How We Treat
-
Chiropractic Manipulation
The most common tool used by chiropractors. We used gentle manipulations when indicated to treat spinal and joint restrictions.
When we are assessing our patients, we evaluate for restricted joints, which means joints that do not move as they should. To address restricted joints, we use chiropractic manipulations to restore motion. Picture this like adding grease to a stuck door hinge.
-
Soft Tissue Treatment
Treating the musculoskeletal system means that in addition to evaluating joint restrictions, we must also address the surrounding muscles and soft tissue as well.
We use Active Release Technique, Graston, and cupping to address dysfunction in the soft tissue. This helps release tension in the muscle and can provide instant relief.
-
Prescribed Exercise
Once we have finished our hands-on treatment, we will prescribe rehabilitation exercises to start building resiliency.
Manual therapy can influence the body quickly, but to ensure that those changes are lasting, we have to load the tissue with exercise.
We use design specific exercises for each patient to rehab their injuries at home and speed up their recovery times.
Continuing Education and Techniques used by Dr. Chris
-
Active Release Technique (ART)
Active Release Technique is the gold standard in soft tissue treatment. Using muscle and structure specific protocols Dr. Chris can treat any number of muscular injuries.
Dr. Chris has completed over 40 additional hours of clinical training with Active Release resulting in a full body certification as well as a Nerve Entrapment certification.
-
Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner
While practicing in the United States Dr. Chris Completed his Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner certification. (CCSP)
In order to sit for the CCSP examination he had to complete a minimum of 100 hours of postgraduate education specifically on sports injury diagnosis and treatment.
In November of 2021, Dr. Chris sat for and passed his CCSP examination.
-
McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT)
McKenzie Method is an assessment system used to help treat various cervical (neck) and lumbar (low back) complaints.
The assessment is a valuable tool used to determine a “directional preference” in patients. A directional preference is a safe movement that can be used to help decrease the intensity of pain in a region or change the location of your symptoms.
If a directional preference is determined during the exam, the patient can use that knowledge to manage their condition both at home and during treatment in the office.
Dr. Chris has successfully completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the MDT curriculum.
-
Selective Functional Movement Assessment
Selective Functional Movement Assessment is a functional assessment that we use on our patients to determine where the root cause of your symptoms may be coming from.
Often times injuries or pain are the result of dysfunction elsewhere in the body. For example if you have a lack of hip stability, it may lead to pain in your knee.
We use the SFMA to help identify the root cause of your symptoms in order to not only treat the site of injury but the cause as well.
-
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)
DNS is a set of rehabilitation exercises that we prescribe to help a patient load and strengthen regions of weakness.
DNS exercises and assessments were designed based on the movement patterns of developing infants.
Researchers determined that normal infant development follows a consistent pattern. They realized that the movement patterns we observed in infants was the ideal movement patterns in the human body. This predictable movements were then recreated into exercises that can be applied to adults. The goal being to reprogram our bodies to move like we did during development. The right way.
